The Palacio Municipal de Deportes de Granada is a multi-purpose pavilion for events in the Spanish city of Granada. The pavilion was inaugurated in 1983 and is currently used mainly for sporting events. The Palacio Municipal de Deportes de Granada offers training and competition facilities for various sports, such as volleyball, handball, basketball, ice hockey, motocross and futsal. The sports hall can accommodate a total of about 7.500 spectators.
Granada is one of the most beautiful cities in Spain and attracts many tourists to the city. It also hosts a number of events at its two largest venues: the Palacio de Deportes de Granada and the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes, which are located next to each other.
In the areas surrounding the Palacio de Deportes de Granada you will find a large number of parking spaces where you can park for free. In addition, in front of the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes, there are also a lot of parking spaces. This has both a positive and a negative side, as on days when events are being held at both stadiums it will be impossible to park.
No matter how many free parking spaces there are near the venue, there may not be enough and you may not be able to find a space available. If you want to park with peace of mind on the days of big events and avoid the crowds on the road, we recommend Parkimeter: the app/website that helps you to compare the nearest car parks and book your parking space in advance.
You can see all the car parks by clicking on the following link.
There is also another option, which is to park in the streets of the city of Granada, but these, especially the more central ones, can be regulated parking spaces; which means that you will have to pay a fee for parking by minutes/hours (depending on the time you leave your car).
There are different zones in the city of Granada, each one is distinguished by the colours painted on the ground indicating the space. Above all, they are differentiated by the time limit of each zone and by their rates. Be well informed before leaving your car parked in the city's regulated parking spaces.
The Palacio Municipal de Deportes de Granada mainly hosts sporting events. For example, the pavilion hosted the 1999 European Indoor Football Championship, the qualifying round of the 2007 European Basketball Championship, the final of the 2009 Spanish Indoor Football Cup and matches of the 2014 Basketball World Cup.
Currently, the Palacio Municipal de Deportes de Granada is used for the home games of the Fundación CB Granada basketball club.
