The center of Madrid is the urban area located in the M-30, where you can find the following districts: Centro, Tetuán, Salamanca, Chamartín, Chamberí, Vallehermoso, Retiro, Legazpi, Atocha, Adelfas , El Retiro, Universidad, El Pilar, Castilla.
Formed by the districts of: Palacio, Embajadores, Cortes, Justicia, Universidad and Sol, the district of Madrid Centro is the oldest area of the Spanish capital. It is also the most multicultural because 22% of its inhabitants are foreigners. It is composed of irregular blocks and narrow streets, which confirms that it is the neighbourhoods that best preserve the medieval atmosphere.
At the same time, it is in this area that we find the main tourist attractions, with places like the Puerta del Sol, the Plaza España, the Plaza de Cibeles, the Paseo del Prado or the Palacio Real, among many others. The Gran Vía, which crosses the district from west to east, is its main artery.
