Park in WiZink Center

The Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid, called WiZink Centre since 2016 for sponsorship reasons, was created in 1960, but was destroyed by fire in 2001 and reopened in 2005.

This emblematic venue is known for hosting concerts and sporting events. It has a privileged location right in the centre of Madrid, as it is located on Calle Goya, in the Salamanca district.

It has a seating capacity of 17.453, making it one of the largest spectator venues in Spain.

Where to park at the WiZink Center

Its main advantage is also its main handicap. The fact that it is located right in the centre of the city makes parking next to the WiZink Center practically impossible. Street parking options are very limited, as you will find very few spaces available, and that is why it is best to park in one of the car parks next to the WiZink Center.

Another option is to park on the outskirts of the city and take the metro to get to your destination. This is a very interesting option for many people because, as we have already mentioned, driving by car provides a lot of convenience and many advantages, but also disadvantages such as: not finding parking on the street, parking in regulated parking areas (blue or green), or encountering traffic restrictions on high pollution days.

On-street parking in Madrid

The city of Madrid, the Spanish capital, has strict regulations on street parking. There are different types of parking spaces: green, blue, mixed and high rotation. But there are mainly two zones that define the rates of the pay zones, a blue zone for visitors and a green zone designed for residents.

  • Blue zone: any user can park for a maximum period of 4 hours. Once the maximum time has been reached, it is not possible to park again in the same neighbourhood until one hour has elapsed since the end of the previous parking period. In addition, residents may park in this zone from 8pm to 9pm within their neighbourhood.
  • Green zone: this is an exclusive zone for residents, who have no time limit within their neighbourhood. All other users may park for a maximum of 2 hours. Once the maximum time has been reached, they may not park again in the same neighbourhood until one hour has elapsed since the end of the previous parking period.
  • High-rotation parking spaces: any user may park in these spaces as long as the vehicle has an environmental badge. The maximum authorised time is 45 minutes. Once the maximum time has been reached, it will not be possible to park again in the same neighbourhood until 30 minutes later.
