The Oporto Courthouse, also known as the Court of Appeal, is located in Campo Mártires da Pátria, in Miragaia. It was designed by Raúl Rodrigues de Lima, native from Lisbon. Its construction took place between 1958 and 1961, during the Estado Novo, a period of political dictatorship in Portugal. It stands out for its grandeur and architecture. The Court is next to the João Chagas Garden, also known as Jardim da Cordoaria, the University of Porto and the Torre dos Clérigos. A 5-minute walk away is the stunning Jardim das Virtudes.
